first attempt

complete new-boy here, have recently decided I want to try and put a little short piece together...I only have a cheap shitty ?99 mini dv cam thing and windows movie maker but what the hell?

We found a real creepy dilapidated old pub, a perfect location for a low-budget horror and some woods nearby so I put together a little taster. As I said this is my first attempt at this so don't be too harsh!

The music was composed by myself as well.

you didnt ask, but Ill comment anyway.
All Id say is try and cut down (remove) the crossfades.

I read somewhere that you shouldnt use crossfades when a cut will do, and I agree with it.

They break the rythmn of your piece I think, and soften it, which maybe isnt what you want for a horror.

otherwise nice one for getting your hands dirty.

Hey there,
Since this was just a teaser, the cross fades were pretty fine. Don't use them too much in the movie though.

Overall a good teaser. The locations are good.

Suggestions:
The last shot shows a man in black running across the woods.
To make the teaser more interesting, you should put more of this man.

Without that your teaser does not make your film look like a horror/thriller.

As of now it looks like your movie could also be a documentary of the old and destroyed things that you showed.

thanks, yeah thats pretty much all the footage i have so far! we scouted a couple of locations, took a few preliminary shots and this is them edited them together basically!

I haven't even got a storyline set in stone yet, probably gonna be something like a couple of kids breakdown outside the pub, get spooked and things spiral out of control from there!

Good first attepmpt man. It should only get better from there.

I agree with Jitesh, crossfades are good in the teaser but not so much in the final film.

As a teaser it did a very good job, because I want to see more and know more, which is exactly what a teaser's job is.
